Dial boss Steve Brown hopes to see his side finally turn a corner when they travel to Sidlesham today (22 Aug) to face Infinity in division one of the Southern Combination Football League. 3pm k.o.
The Dial supremo is looking for his side to 'score more and concede less' as the club seeks to notch their first away win of the season after three consecutive defeats in the league, league cup and FA Vase.
Having chalked up just two goals in four games since the start of the season, Dial find themselves in uncharted territory; something that Brown is looking to fix, and quickly,
In stark contrast, Infinity have won both their opening league games against Mile Oak (1-0) and Reigate Priory (3-1) and beat Clanfield (3-1) to progress to the second round of the Peter Bentley (League) Cup. Like Arundel, they are also tipped by some non-league commentators to improve on their top 5 finish the past two seasons.
Meanwhile, Brown will be weighing up experience over youth when Dial step out at The Lumacon Stadium (Sidlesham Memorial Recreation Ground) this afternoon, to help shift the balance and increase his side's potency in front of goal.
Veteran striker-come-defender Matt Bunyan is expected to make his Southern Combination Football League debut at the age of 40 alongside captain Jimmy Norman in the absence of Matt Hayes.
Brown will also need to make do without Matt Hinks, George Frith and Callum Abraham-Barlow, who, along with at least six other players, are unavailable. Unsurprisingly, its caused a major selection headache just two weeks into the new season.
Influential winger Daniel Wanyonyi is also expected to be out for at least another 3-4 weeks after rupturing his hamstring against Minster in The FA Vase against Minster last Saturday (15 Aug).
Speaking to DialSquareFC.com on Friday (21 Aug), Brown is looking for his side to build on what they produced on Tuesday (18 Aug) away to Arundel.
He said: "For long periods of the match, I thought we played well against Arundel, but we need to capitalise and take our chances when they arise.
"Overall, I thought we defended well, which made it even more disappointing to come empty-handed.
"We have quite a few players either injured or unavailable at present, which only adds to the challenege with some of the games we have coming up. I'm confident though that, once we have a full squad to chose from, we can go on a decent run," he added.
For those travelling to Sidlesham Memorial Recreation Ground (PO20 7RD) today by train, the nearest rail station is Chichester, which is situated on the Southern Railway. The station is about four miles from the ground. You can take a six-minute taxi or catch the No. 51 bus to Sidlesham, May Close, which is a two to-minute walk to the venue.
For those driving, there is ample free parking within the confines of the recreation ground. Parking is also available in nearby residential streets, albeit we would ask all supporters to park with consideration.
Standard admission costs at The Lumacon Stadium is £6 for adults and £4 for concessions
