ANOTHER ROYAL OCCASION FOR DIAL

ANOTHER ROYAL OCCASION FOR DIAL

Andy Fitzsimons18 Oct - 05:50

Brown to mix and match to come up trumps

Dial will be hoping to extend their unbeaten league run to six games when they travel to Egham to play AFC Royal Holloway today (18 October). 2pm k.o.

It's the second time in three weeks that Steve Brown's side have been paired with the Old Boys after notching an impressive 4-0 win at Alwyns Lane in September.

By their own standards, it's been a turbulent first quarter for the Egham-based side, who have struggled to rekindle the same form that saw them lift the Premier Challenge (League) Cup last season.

Despite beating Tooting & Mitcham United U23s 2-0 away on the opening day of the season, the Old Boys have failed to score in their past five matches, winning just one of their last eight which has seen them drop to the foot of the table.

Meanwhile, Dial will be hoping for a more convincing display after narrowly edging past Richmond & Kew two weeks ago thanks to a stupendous Charlie Marshall stoppage-time winner.

But with Callum Abraham-Barlow suspended and Jordan Carter, Aidan Doran, Louie Rogers and new signing Danny Taylor all injured, Dial will again be depleted on personnel as they seek to continue their competitive advantage over Battersea Ironsides, Wimbledon Casuals and Keens Park Rangers in the top four.

On the upside, Brown is pleased to welcome back George Frith and James Vass to the fold, as well as experienced central defender Jimmy Norman, who has been sidelined through injury since pre-season. Norman's reintroduction could see Marshall again take a lead role in a front three to help balance the squad.

Speaking to DialsSquareFC.com on Friday, Brown said: "You never know what to expect from Royal Holloway, so it's important that we focus on our own game and don't allow ourselves to get distracted.

"Our application and doing the basics well will determine how well we do this weekend, especially with so many players injured or unavailable for one reason or another.

"I hasn't helped that we didn't play last Saturday as it's difficult to build momentum, but the lads are bonding well and know the level of performance that's expected from them, regardless of the opposition," he added.

For fans travelling to Royal Holloway Sports Ground today, you can plan your journey here. No admission charge applies.

There are expected delays on the M25 / Junction 10 (A3 Interchange) due to engineering works. Please plan accordingly.
