While, thankfully, Dial won't be forced to square up against Wanderers' National League South side, the club's development side (B team) will still make for a tricky fixture for Steve Brown's side to get through.

Despite beating East Preston 1-0 on Saturday in the opening day of the Southern Combination Football League Division One campaign, Brown will be looking for a more composed and self assured performance from his players within the rolling Surrey Hills tonight.

Wanderers (B team), meanwhile, who were only formed as a pathway into senior football in 2022, will be looking to pick up their first win of the 2026/27 season after losing 2-1 away to Hailsham Town in the league at the weekend.

Brown is expected to keep faith with the mainstay of the squad that beat East Preston three days earlier, albeit with Luke Taylor expected to come in for Danny Taylor (knee problem) and 17-year-old Callum Miles expected to make his Dial debut (pending league sanction) in goal, having previously been the youngest ever player to represent Bracknell Town at step 3 at the age of 16 last season. Meanwhile, captain Jimmy Norman remains doubtful.

Speaking ahead of tonight's first round clash, Brown said: "I expect Dorking to be high energy. I'm sure they'll move the ball well and they'll want to retain possession for long spells on their 3G pitch, which we'll need to find a way to break down.

"We have a few unavailable evening, especially in the defensive area, whether through work, study or recovering from a knock from Saturday, so it will be an opportunity to rotate the squad and give players more minutes. That's the purpose of having a good squad.

"All in all, I'm looking for the players to make a step up from the weekend," he added.

The winner of tonight's tie will play Southern Combination Football League Premier Division side Forest Row in the second round. Date TBC.
