Dial boss Steve Brown is hoping his side can build on their great performances over the August bank holiday weekend when they host Mile Oak today (5 Sept) at Reddihg Way. 3pm k.o..

With half the squad unavailable or sidelined through injury, Brown believes his side have finally found their mojo after beating Clanfield, then holding league leaders AFC Walcountians to a goalless draw on Monday.

After shipping 17 goals on the road, Dial have now bolted down the hatches, which has seen them keep two concessive clean sheets. This in part is due to the arrival of former Bedfont Sports' goalkeeper George Douglas, who has helped to keep the opposition at bay.

Meanwhile, Mile Oak have produced a mixed bag of results over the past seven league and cup appearances. An impressive 4-1 win at home to Arundel a fortnight ago was followed up by a 3-1 defeat away to Westfield (East Sussex) last Saturday, before they held Worthing United to a 1-1 draw at home on Monday.

With 56 players already registered for The Oak, their availale personnel is considerably bigger than Dial's 35-man squad, which has seen the Brighton-based club score in all but one of their games so far.

Today's visitors are still searching for their first win on the road, albeit they have only played once away from home since 11 August. In contrast, today's fixture in only Dial's second home fixture over the same period.

Despite losing the services of Callum Wright to Isthmian Football League side Windsor & Eton in midweek, Brown is pleased to welcome back Callum Abraham-Barlow after a one-match absence and experienced midfielder and vice captain George Frith, who has missed the last three league games.

New signing Deji Adeosun is also expected to keep his place in the middle of the park following his impressive debut and man-of-the-match performance against AFC Walcountians earlier in the week.

Speaking to DialSquareFC.com yesterday, Brown said: "I was pleased with our endeavour and performance level over the bank holiday weekend, especially against top-of-the-table AFC Walcountians.

"With eight players injured and several others unavailable, the new additions to the squad over the past 9-10 days have been vital, providing much-needed depth and competition for places.

"Like us, Mile Oak have had some indifferent results and will obviously be looking to get their first away win under their belt against us. It's important, therefore, that we show the same character, intensity and togetherness - like we did in our previous two league fixtures - to pick up three points," he added.
