Dial are back on the road this afternoon (10 Jan) when Steve Brown's side take on Tongham in the third round of the Surrey FA Saturday Intermediate Cup. 2pm k.o.
In anticipation of the freezing temperatures, the match was switched (mutually agreed by both clubs), from the grass pitch at Tongham Recreation Ground to the 3G playing surface at Royal Holloway Sports Centre to ensure the fixture would go ahead.
After beating Parkside (6-0 ) and Worplesdon Phoenix (6-1) in the two previous rounds, Steve Brown's side will be hoping to reach the quarter-final stage for the third consecutive year.
It's the second time in three seasons that Dial have been paired with The Redmen in the third round of the competition, and the second time that the match has been relocated from the original venue to Royal Holloway Sports Centre (neutral venue) due to the weather.
Tongham currently sit third in the Surrey County Intermediate League (Western) Premier Division (step 8) table, and have already beaten Shottermill & Haslemere (5-2) and Keens Park Rangers (3-1 pens, after finishing 2-2) in this year's county cup competition.
Brown is expected to keep faith with mainstay of the squad that beat Bagshot 4-0 away last Saturday, with Danny Taylor and Salvatore Federico both out due to competition rules, along with Louie Rogers, Ross Ewen, and Darren Xavier, who are also ineligible.
Furthermore, Callum Abraham-Barlow, Aidan Phillips and Matt Hayes are all unavailable to face The Redmen, while George Lawrence and Ben Vassell are both expected to return to the squad.
Speaking to DialSquareFC.com ahead of the fixture, Brown said: "Although we played Tongham in pre-season, we had a much-depleated squad, so there's not much that you can draw from that.
"We know from past experiences (league and cup) that Tongham are a physical side and won't allow us time on the ball. However, I'm hoping our quality will shine through to reach the quarter-final stage of the competition," he added.
For fans travelling to Royal Holloway Sports Centre (home of AFC Royal Holloway) today, you can plan your journey here. No admission charge applies.
