DIAL ENTERTAIN ARCH RIVALS UNDER THE LIGHTS

Andy Fitzsimons9 Sep - 05:05

Blues make short trip to Chertsey

Dial are back in league action this evening (9 Sept.) when they host newly-promoted Laleham at Alwyns Lane. 7:45pm.

Fixtures between the two clubs have generated no less than 36 goals over the years, with Dial and Laleham sharing the spoils with three wins each and one solitary draw.

After suffering a surprise home defeat against Bagshot (6 Sept.), Dial boss Steve Brown has thrown down the gauntlet against The Blue to right the wrongs from the weekend.

Speaking to DialSquareFC.com on Monday, Brown said: "We had nine players unavailable against Bagshot, but we should not have lost the game.

"We had plenty of possession, but if you push forward and don't take your chances, your susceptible to counter attack, which cost us on Saturday. The players no it wasn't good enough; it has to be better, so I'm expecting a more rounded performance from the squad against Laleham," he added.

After winning the Surrey County Intermediate League (Western) Premier Division by nine points over Tongham last season, tonight's visitors are still searching for their first win after losing 2-0 at home to Keens Park (30 Aug.), before drawing 1-1 away to CB Hounslow & Abbots on Saturday (6 Sept.)

Meanwhile, Brown is expected to have a nigh on full-strength squad available this evening, with George Frith and Aidan Phillips both expected to come straight into the starting line-up. Aidan Doran and Matt Bunyan are also back in contention, and strriker Charlie Marshall returns from a one-match suspension. Callum Abraham-Barlow remains the only doubt.

For supporters and football enthusiasts travelling to Alwyns Lane by train, the nearest rail station is Chertsey, which is a c. 15-minute walk (via Guildford Street and Windsor Street) to the ground. You can plan your journey here.

Alwyns Lane football ground offers very limited parking, which is principally for players and match officials. Therefore, spectators are asked to park with consideration in the neighbouring residential streets.

Admission charges apply: £5 (concessions £3 / U18s are free). For more information, click here.
