DIAL HOST CRANES AT NEUTRAL VENUE

Brown: we need to show up from the start

Dial continue their league exploits away from home today (21 Feb) when Steve Brown's side host Cranleigh at Royal Holloway Sports Centre. 2pm k.o.

To ensure the fixture would go ahead, the match was switched to Royal Holloway Sports Centre (3G pitch) in Egham after a midday pitch inspection on Friday confirned that Alwyns Lane was waterlogged.

The change of venue means that Dial haven't played at home for two-and-a-half months and counting, with the next fixture at Alwyns Lane unlikely to be until 14 March.

Today's opposition currently occupy a mid-table position, having won six, drawn three and lost five of their league games. However, with just three points separating eighth and fourth positions, The Cranes could move back into the top four if they win their games in hand.

The last time the two sides met was back on 13 September 2025 at Glebelands School (3G pitch) due to the unavailability of Snoxhall Fields. Two quick-fire first goals from Harry Rice, followed by brace from George Lawrence, and another from Dan Cenzano, helped Dial to a comfortable 5-1 win against The Cranes.

Dial boss Brown is expected to welcome back DannyTaylor, Louie Rogers, Salvatore Federico and Ross Ewen, who were all ineligible for the 2-1 win over Horsell in the quarter-finals of the county cup a fortnight ago.

While experienced midfielder George Frith remains a doubt, today could mark the return of Aidan Doran, along with striker Charlie Marshall and defender Matt Hayes to the starting XI after suffering from niggling injuries.

Speaking to DialSquareFC.com ahead of the fixture, Brown said: "I'm looking forward to getting back to league action. Cranleigh will be a tough test, so the boys will need to be on it from the start

"Although we still have a few key players missing, we will be able to field a strong squad. We slipped up against Tooting & Mitcham three weeks ago, and with last Saturday's fixture against Laleham postponed, we need to get back to winning ways in the league to maintain our pressure at the top of the table," he added.
