DIAL KEEN TO OUST PARK RANGERS

DIAL KEEN TO OUST PARK RANGERS

Marc Brewer25 Oct 2024 - 17:30

Football or cricket?

Dial travel to Pyrford Cricket Club this Saturday (26 Oct.) to play Keens Park Rangers in the Surrey Premier County Football League. 2pm k.o.

Following last week's postponed fixture away to Frenches Athletic, Steve Brown's side will be keen to get back to business against Rangers.

Like Dial, this weekend's hosts are no strangers when it comes to success after their rise from division four of the Guildford & Woking Alliance Football League to the Surrey County Intermediate League (Western) Premier Division. They won back-to-back titles in 2021/22 and 2022/23, before gaining promotion to the Surrey Premier County Football League last season.

Despite beating Dial in a pre-season warm-up in August, Rangers have struggled to rekindle their form of late, which included a 3-1 defeat away to Banstead Rovers last Saturday and a crushing 10-1 home defeat at the hands of AFC Walcountians a fortnight ago. They are still in search of their first home win since beating Hersham 6-0 on 24 February 2024.

Meantime, Dial will be without goalkeeper Andy Rider and defender Louie Rogers for the trip to Pyrford, which will pave the way for former Farnham Town shot-stopper and goalkeeping coach Richard 'Ozzy' Ossai to return to action. Brown is also hoping to have influential midfielder Chad Goulter available.

Speaking to DialSquareFC.com on Thursday (24 Oct), Brown said: Although we're a couple of players down, I'm still hopeful of being able to field a strong side this weekend, which we've struggled to do over the past month or so due to injuries and players' unavailability.

"When we played Keens Park [Rangers] in pre-season, I thought they were a decent side and I was actually expecting them to be challenging in the top three or four. However, at this stage of the season, you're potentially a couple of wins from rising several places in the table, so there's plenty to play for. I just hope last week's postponement hasn't hindered our momentum," he added.

For supporters and football enthusiasts travelling to Pyrford Cricket Club, a travel guide is available here. There is no admission charge for this fixture.
