DIAL KEEN TO RETURN TO WINNING WAYS

DIAL KEEN TO RETURN TO WINNING WAYS

Andy Fitzsimons2 Aug - 05:30

Pre-season rivalry beckons

Dial continue their pre-season preparations today (2 August) when they travel back to Kings College Community Sports Hub to play Surrey Premier County Football League counterparts Keens Park Rangers: 1:45pm k o.

While today is only a friendly encounter, matches between the two clubs have always been played in a healthy competitive spirit. During the 2024/25 season, Dial and Rangers chipped in with 16 league goals (7-3 and 4-2 to Dial) and four in the Premier Challenge (League) Cup, which Rangers progressed through to the final only to lose to AFC Royal Holloway.

Since then, both sides have added to their coaching staff, with Mike Kinsella (Assistant Manager) and Andy Rider (Goalkeeping Coach) joining The Dial football management team, and Luke Simmonds replacing Gary Mitchell - after eight seasons with the club - as Rangers' new first team manager.

After four matches against step 5 (Windsor & Eton, Knaphill, and Guildford City) and step 6 (Cove) opposition, today is the first pre-season fixture where Dial will face opposition of equal status, while Rangers have only played Yateley (step 6) in a triallists' match on 12 July, losing 11-0.

With no less than nine players away or unavailable today, it will be another chance for Dial boss Steve Brown to look at fitness and formations, as well as trailing one or two more players before the 2025/26 Surrey Premier County Football League commences on 23 August.

For fans travelling to Kings College Community Sports Hub, there is limited parking onsite, so you may need to park curb-side along Park Barn Drive or Southway. As always, please consider local residents. The venue is not easily accessible by public transport.
