DIAL PRIMED TO HOST STRINGERS AT REDDING WAY

DIAL PRIMED TO HOST STRINGERS AT REDDING WAY

Andy Fitzsimons

Brown seeks to hail another clean sheet

Dial are back at Redding Way this afternoon (17 Oct.) when Steve Brown's side entertain East Sussex outfit Hailsham Town in Division One of the Southern Combination Football League. 3pm k.o.

Following Tuesday night's comfortable 2-0 victory against Selsey, Dial boss Steve Brown is looking for his side to continue their unbeaten run on home soil to potentially move up to third in the table.

For the visitors, it's their first visit to the borough of Woking in 42 years after they knocked now National League side Woking out of The FA Cup (Preliminary Round) during the 1983/84 season.

Under the managerial direction of Callum Standish, The Stringers finally returned to Division One this season following back to back relegations from the Premier Division between 2022 and 2023. They secured their return in April after winning the Second Division (step 7) title, beating runners up Rustington by seven points.

After an indifferent start to their 2026/27 campaign, which included a 6-0 defeat away at Worthing United last month, Town have won four of their past five league matches; four of which have also been at home. In fact, today is only the second time that The Stringers have played away from home in seven league and cup matches since 15 September.

While today's visitors have conceded one-goal or more in 12 of their 14 league and cup fixtures, Dial will be hoping to increase their clean sheet tally to nine from 12 SCFL fixtures. It remains one of the best in the non-league pyramid, one behind frontrunners Southwell City of the United Counties League Division One (step 6).

Brown is expected to keep faith with the mainstay of the squad that beat Selsey on Tuesday, with Miles Davis making way for Callum Abraham-Barlow and Daniel Cenzano returning in place of Ben Mitchell, who has been recalled by his parent club, Knaphill.

Speaking to DialSquareFC.com yesterday (16 Oct), Brown said: "I expect Hailsham [Town] to come at us and not sit back, but if we play to our strengths, I’ve no doubt we’ll get the job done at home.

"We produced a good performance in midweek, so if everything falls into place, we should come out on top again and maintain the pressure on the teams above us," he added.
