Former CCFL club are first visitors to Alwyns Lane

Dial make a welcome return home on Wednesday (4 September) when they host Bagshot in the Surrey Premier County Football League under the lights at Alwyns Lane. 7:30pm k.o.

After conceding two stoppage-time goals against CB Hounslow & Abbots on Saturday to lose 4-2, Dial boss Steve Brown will be looking for his players to show better game-management across all areas of the pitch.

Meanwhile, Bagshot will be eager to kick-start their season after suffering a heavy 5-0 defeat away to early pacesetters Worcester Park at the weekend.

The Baggies, who were relegated from the Combined Counties Football League Division One last season, were considered to be one of the favourites to bounce back to the higher tier at the first attempt. However, the signs are that this year’s SPCFL campaign is likely to be one of the toughest since the League was founded in 2008.

Brown is all too aware that three points is a must and is not afraid to make wholesale changes if Dial are found to be off-the-pace over the course of the next three to four league games.

Despite the absence of full-back James Vass, Brown is pleased to welcome back Louie Rogers and Dylan Averiss to help shore up the backline, coupled with the return of Noel Fortune to bolster Dial’s attacking options.

Speaking to DialSquareFC.com on Monday, Brown said: "We simply weren't at the races on Saturday [v CB Hounslow & Abbots]; we were way off. And while we had a limited squad to choose from, which meant Bunners [Matt Bunyan] and I both had to play, it still wasn't good enough by our usual standards. So, it's important that we re-group and get back to playing how I know we can and should play," he added.

For supporters and football enthusiasts travelling to Alwyns Lane by train, the nearest rail station is Chertsey, which is a c. 15-minute walk (via Guildford Street and Windsor Street) to the ground. You can plan your journey here.

For those travelling by car, Alwyns Lane football ground offers very limited parking, which is principally for players and match officials. Therefore, spectators are asked to park with consideration in the neighbouring residential streets.
