Dial boss Steve Brown is taking nothing for granted today (7 Nov) when his side host basement club Shoreham in division one of the Southern Combination Football League at Redding Way. 3pm k.o.
After a hard-fought 2-1 win away at Oakwood last Saturday (31 Oct), thanks to a stoppage-time goal from Danny Taylor, the visit of The Musselmen should, at least on paper, be more straightforward.
The West Sussex coastal side have struggled to gain a foothold after dropping out of the Premier Division at the end of last season. It has already brought about one managerial change, with Alex Laing replacing Connor Cox in the dugout on 9 October after The Musselmen had only won one of their opening eight matches.
It's not been an easy transition into management for the former Worthing, Lewes, Horsham, Burgess Hill Town, and Haywards Heath Town man. However, Laing will be determined to help Shoreham turn the corner after The Musselmen have conceded 46 goals in just 15 league games.
In response, Brown has a nigh on full squad available, as he welcomes back Matt Hinks, George Frith, Daniel Cenzano and Callum Abraham-Barlow after all-four missed the trip to Crawley last weekend. Only Aidan Doran, Oluwatomiwa 'Tomi' Bankole and Jack Sherwood are unavailable.
A win for Dial this afternoon could see us move up one or two places in the table to again be within touching distance of the play-off positions.
Speaking to DialSquareFC.com ahead of today's match, Brown said: "I believe Shoreham are going through a complete rebuild [of the squad], but it will obviously take time for those changes to bed in.
"We definitely won't be taking them [Shoreham] lightly, but we need to concentrate on what we're doing. If we do that, and focus on our game plan, I see no reason why we can't pick up three points today to move up the table. On our day, I believe we can beat anyone in this league," he added.
