DIAL WILL PLAY STONES IN SEMI-FINAL OF COUNTY CUP

Andy Fitzsimons7 Mar - 07:30

Ironsides' fate is sealed after FA ruling

We've been informed by the Surrey FA that we will now play Addlestone away in the semi-finals of this year's Saturday Intermediate County Cup

It follows an investigation by the county FA, which found that Battersea Ironsides had fielded an ineligible player during their 2-1 win over Addlestone in their quarter-final tie on 14 February.

Under competition rule 9 (c), a club cannot use a player who has taken part in a senior cup or senior league game (i.e.,step 6 or above of the National League System] during the current season.

Ironsides were formally notified of the rule breach on 27 February and had seven days to appeal the Surrey FA's decision. They chose not to appeal, so Addlestone were awarded a home win to advance into the last four of the competition.

Our semi-final tie against The Stones tie will be played on 14 March (currently 1:30pm k.o.) at Jubilee High School, meaning that our Surrey Premier County Football League home fixture against Richmond & Kew will need to be rescheduled.

Elsewhere, Keens Park Rangers will host Worcester Park today (7 March) in the other Saturday Intermediate County Cup semi-final tie at Pyrford Cricket Club. 1:30pm k.o.

The final will be played at Meadowbank (home of the Surrey FA and Dorking Wanderers) on 29 April 2026 (7:30pm k.o.).
