DIAL'S ROADTRIP TO MILE ROAD GROUND

Dial face early pacesetters in West Sussex

Dial will be eager to get back to winning ways this evening (18 Aug) when Steve Brown's side travel to Arundel in division one of the Southern Combination Football League. 7:45pm k.o.

The fixture comes straight off the bat from Dial's FA Vase exit away to Southern Counties East Football League side Minster on Saturday, (15 Aug), which culminated in a rare back to back defeat for The Dial.

Meanwhile, Arundel are the division's early pacesetters, having picked up four points from their opening two league games against Ringmer (4-2) and Dorking Wanderers B (2-2), and beating East Preston 2-0 in the first round of the Peter Bentley (League) Cup last Tuesday (11 Aug).

The Mullets (a nickname derived from a grey mullet fish found in the River Arun, not ex-England footballer Chris Waddle) are tipped by some non-League analysts to be one of the teams to beat this season after finishing in the top eight the past four seasons. Albeit they have had to make do without the goalscoring prowess of Sam Pearson so far this season.

In contrast, Brown is hoping to welcome back captain Jimmy Norman and influential midfield George Frith into the squad for tonight's trip to Mile Road. Both were notable absentees during Saturday's FA Vase clash away to Minster in Margate.

However. attacking midfielder Daniel Wanyonyi remains doubtful after he pulled his hamstrung at the weekend, which could see him sidelined for the next two-to-three fixtures.

Brown could also use the fixture as an opportunity to shuffle the pack to help unlock Dial's creativity in the final third. It comes after Dial have only mustered one-goal in 270 minutes of football.

Reinforcing his position from Saturday's defeat at the hands of Minster, Brown said: "We lost against Minster because we didn't move the ball around well enough and we lacked creativity when he needed it.

"We need to do better; the players know that. And while you're not going to win every game of football, it's the manner of the defeat. The lads are under no illusion of what I expect from them when they step out against Arundel," he added.

For those travelling to Mill Road football ground today by train, you can plan your journey here. Arundel Station is situated on the Southern Railway. The ground is a 0.7-mile (15-minute) walk from the station.

For those driving, there is a small amount of parking within the confines of the ground, which is principally for players and match officials. Free parking is also available along Mill Road outside the ground and in Mill Road Car Park - a large pay-and-display car park next to the football ground.

Please check directly with Arundel F.C. (tel number) for admission prices.
