PARK AND RIDE TO KT4 FOR DIAL

PARK AND RIDE TO KT4 FOR DIAL

Andy Fitzsimons21 Mar - 07:05

Dial recalibrate for trip to Skinners Field

Dial face a stern test when they travel to fellow title-chasers Worcester Park today (21 March) in the Surrey Premier County Football League. 2pm k.o.

Following Dial's goalscoring spree (7-0) against Addlestone in midweek, boss Steve Brown knows that this afternoon's trip to The Skinners is likely to be one of the most enduring to date, and could make or break one or both sides' chances of catching Wimbledon Casuals to claim the top spot.

Dubbed the first match in the trilogy, today's outing will see Dial pit their wits against a Worcester Park side who they will meet in the Surrey FA Saturday Intermediate Cup final in five-and-a-half weeks' time at The Meadowbank Stadium.

Prior to then, Dial and The Skinners will face off in the league twice in 10 days, with Dial needing to win at least four of their remaining seven (league) fixtures to ensure they finish above promotion applicants CB Hounslow & Abbots, but all seven to clinch the title.

Over their past six fixtures, Park have averaged just over 3.6 league goals per game; and conceded nine, to make them the highest scorers in the league by some margin. This includes beating Addlestone 7-1 at home, coupled with a 5-3 win against CB Hounslow & Abbots last Saturday (17 Match). Their last defeat came on 6 December after The Skinners lost 2-0 away to Battersea Ironsides.

By comparison, Dial have averaged 2.3 goals per game (also conceding nine), but have returned to form after re-signing Adam Bicknell from Cranleigh last month, with the striker scoring a hat-trick against Addlestone on Tuesday and assisting three of the four other goals.

Dial will be without captain Jimmy Norman (injured), Jordan Carter, Tom Adag and Aidan Doran for today's trip to KT4, but Brown is pleased to welcome back Dan Cenzano after a one-match absence.

Speaking to DialSquareFC.com yesterday, Brown said: "I'm expecting a physical battle against Worcester Park on a difficult pitch. The players need to win their individual battles and be clinical in front of goal when we get the opportunities.

"We played really well against Addlestone on Tuesday night, so the mood in the camp is very good. The boys know how important it is to come away with the three points; however, this weekend will be a very different test and against a Worcester Park side who are, like us, chasing the league title with eleven games still to play," he added.
