Dial travel to Shottermill & Haslemere today (8 Feb) in the third round of the Surrey FA Saturday Intermediate Cup. 1:30pm k.o.
It comes after Steve Brown's side were thrown a lifeline last month when Bagshot were found to have fielded three ineligible players in the previous round and expelled from the competition.
Despite residing below mid-table in the Surrey County Intermediate League (Western) Premier Division, The Shotts will be no pushover. They have only failed to score once in 15 league and cup matches this season, and have only lost once in normal time in their past seven outings.
Furthermore, The Shotts were the first club to take points (2-2) from Dial during last season's title-winning campaign, before Dial returned the favour in the second round of the county cup (3-2) at Alwyns, and then again in the semi-final of the league cup (3-2) and penultimate league fixture (4-1).
Brown will be without several key players for the trip to Hampshire today, with Aidan Doran, Charlie Marshall and George Lawrence all unavailable. Meanwhile, former Shotts' man Adam Bicknell is suspended, and Adam Aziz and Balai Antonio Dembele are both ineligible to play in the Saturday Intermediate Cup. Influential winger Jordan Carter also remains doubtful.
Speaking ahead of the fixture on Thursday, Brown said: "Shottermill [& Haslemere] are an awkward side to play against. Haslemere Recreation Ground also isn't place to go and get a result, as we found out last season.
"The pitch is narrow and uneven, so we will need to adjust how we shape up against them. That said, it's a good opportunity to rekindle our form after two disappointing league results. Quite frankly, we owe it to ourselves and our fans to progress in this year's cup competition after losing out on a semi-final place last season.
"However, we need to take our chances; we need to be much more clinical in front of goal," he added.
For fans travelling to the Haslemere Recreation Ground (GU27 2AZ), the nearest rail station is Haslemere, which is a 20-minute walk to the ground. Free onsite parking and limited curb-side parking is available.
