Following on from the news that Stuart Morgan has stood down as Chairman of Dial Square Football Club, we would like to introduce the new man in the hot seat.
Fans who have been attending matches recently would have met Tony already, but for fans who are further afield, here is a short bio on the new man in charge.
Tony has lived in Oxshott, Surrey (about 15 miles from our new home ground at Chertsey) for the last 25 years. He is married to Pauline and has 4 adult children and 3 grandchildren and the whole family are proud to be die-hard Gooners. The family hold 8 season tickets between them at the Emirates Stadium and they have followed Arsenal to virtually every country in Europe, including Paris for both the Champions League and Cup-Winners Cup Finals and also Copenhagen for both the UEFA Cup final and 1994 Cup-Winners Cup Final, in which a certain Ian Selley featured in the famous victory against Parma.
Football has always been a big part of Tony's life and he made his Isthmian League debut for Clapton against Wycombe Wanderers at the age of 18. Tony then moved to Leytonstone in the Isthmian League before his company transferred him up to Lincoln and whilst there he played for 3 seasons in the Lincolnshire and South Humberside Senior league before returning to the South-East and playing for several clubs in the Sussex County League. Tony recalls a very early game for Clapton when he faced directly up against a much more senior player at Walton & Hersham (and nasty piece of work!) called Dave Bassett..........who went on to manage a whole host of clubs in the Premier League.
Tony has spent his entire working life in the Financial Services Industry but has now pretty well retired from business following the sale of his company to 'Mattioli Woods Group PLC' in 2020. He is spending a fair amount of time on a major project overseeing the construction of a new family home in Wimbledon and is also now deeply committed to working alongside Stuart Morgan to continue the development of Dial Square FC.
Everyone at the club wishes Tony the very best of luck within his new role and we are very excited for this new chapter to begin at Dial Square.
