It's the first time that the two clubs have faced each other, and the first time that Dial have competed in the more senior county cup competition since the club was formed in 2020.

The Chessy are currently riding high in the Surrey County Premier Football League (step 7) following their relegation from division one of the Southern Counties East Football League last season. And while they have only lost one of their opening seven league games, they have only mustered three wins since the start of the season and lost at home to Addlestone (4-2 on pens) in the Premier Challenge (League) Cup

However, today's visitors will be in buoyant mood after beating reigning Surrey Premier County Football League champions and Surrey Intermediate Cup holders Worcester Park 2-0 at Chalky Lane on Saturday (19 Sept). They have also only failed to score once in their eight previous league and cup fixtures.

By comparison, Dial remain unbeaten in their past four Southern Combination Football League (Division One) games and have yet to concede a goal in 390 minutes (incl. stoppage time) of football, which has taken Steve Brown's side from 13th to seventh in the table, and with a game in hand over most of the surrounding teams.

Despite the upturn in form in the league, The Dial have already exited this year's FA Vase and the Peter Bentley (League) Cup competitions at the first hurdle against Minster and Dorking Wanderers B, respectively.

And while Brown is looking for his side to extend their rich run of form going into tonight's Premier Saturday Cup competition, he has decided to rest several players from Saturday's 1-0 league win over Dorking Wanderers B. It is understood that Brown has also decided to give three to four other key players a few more days to recuperate before they return to action.

With both captain Jimmy Norman and Matt Hayes rested, experienced Matt Bunyan is likely to line up alongside Brown in a four-man back four, with Luke Taylor also expected to come in for Callum Abraham-Barlow, who is unavailable.

Josh Adjei could also receive his first start in a more advanced position after coming on as a late substitute against Wanderers B on Saturday, with Tosin Oyebola and Miles Davis also expected to return to the 16-man squad to face The Chessy on home soil.

Speaking to DialSquareFC.com last night, Brown said: "The county cup provides a nice break from league action and offers the opportunity to give some of the players more game-time.

"Chessington [& Hook United] have had some decent results so far this season. And while they have, probably by their own admission, been a little inconsistent, I'm sure they'll be looking to cause an upset against us.

"As always, I'm expecting the players that are in the squad to give a good account of themselves and to, hopefully, progress through to the second round," he added.
