MARTIN STARTS THE LEAGUE CAMPAIGN WITH A WIN

Our New Boss, Simon Martin, saw his new side win their first league game of the season, in emphatic fashion. Despite the 7-2 scoreline however, it wasn't all plain sailing.
New Summer signings Nic Donaldson and Mark Watkins showed their class and bagged 6 goals between them, with Watto grabbing 4 of them.

It didn't take long for the pair to combine, with Nic laying off an assist for Mark to slot home his first for the club, after just 7 minutes.
Just after the half hour mark, Watto had completed his hat-trick with two well taken goals, but it was the 4th goal just before half-time that was the pick of the bunch. A thunderous left foot shot, found the top corner and despite him picking up a yellow card moments earlier, it was the perfect start for our new man.

After the break, the aim was to start playing some football with control, as Farncombe did carve out a fair few opportunities through some good passages of play, but it didn't really materialise.
It wasn't until midway through the second half that we netted again. This time, it was #TheDon who scored his first for the club and no sooner had the Tweet been typed to acknowledge the scorer, our Number 9 had scored again! 2 goals in less than a minute and the game was done and dusted.

Farncombe continued to fight and were rewarded with a goal with 10 minutes remaining, but soon after, Cal Flaherty showed why he scores goals for fun, when a monster assist from Zach Ward beat the whole of the Farncombe defence, for Cal to latch onto and calmly round the keeper, to make it 7-1.

The hosts managed to add another consolation in the final minute, but overall the feelings are positive. A 7-2 victory on the opening day of the season is one most would have taken at the start of the day.
