It was the perfect start to life in the Surrey Intermediate League yesterday afternoon, as Dial Square comfortably came out victors at Waterers Park.

The 4-1 win at Knaphill Athletic was as routine as it sounds, but the hosts did create chances that if they had taken, could've made the game much more interesting.

It took only 5 minutes for The Dial to take the lead. New signing Jake Taylor rounding the keeper and coolly slotting home, gave the travelling support something to cheer so soon after starting life at this new level.
They didn't have to wait long for the second, when last season's top scorer and captain, Mark Watkins made it 2-0, a minute later.
It was a fast start from the visitors and it was looking like it could've been a rout.

It was all Dial Square. That was, until the 13th minute, when Knaphill scored directly from a corner. Adam Bellemaine sending in a curling ball, was missed by everyone and nestled into the far corner. 2-1 and the hosts were right back in it.

Just after the half-way point in the 1st half, Watto tried an audacious chip from 30 yards which just whistled past the post, but a minute later, he'd scored his second of the game, when this time he did succeed in a spectacular lobbed effort. 3-1 and breathing space had been restored.

Knaphill didn't give up and so easily could've been back in the game moments later, but a superb goal line clearance from Gavin Miller ensured the score remained the same until half-time. 3-1 and it was all going to plan.

The second-half saw Eddie McKinlay have a goal ruled out. The ball was adjudged to have gone out of play before a cut back to Ted, who made no mistake with the finish.
The Dial did manage to add a fourth, when another new signing for this season, Arafat Kay, nodded home from a corner with a little over 5 minutes remaining.

The only blemish on the afternoon was two bookings and a goal conceded, but it was a very good start to the new season overall and now all minds will be focused on an away trip to a tough Godalming Town 'Development' side, next week.
