After going top of the league with victory over Virgina Water ‘Reserves' last week, it was an away trip to high flyers Farncombe up next for The Dial.
However, a very poor first-half performance from the team saw that stay at the top of the table, very short lived indeed.

There had been issues within the warm-up, in which intensity and focus was missing and it manifested itself into the performance in the first 45 minutes.

Farncombe were clearly the better side at the start and could’ve been 2-0 up within 20 minutes.
The Dial did finally respond with a brief 10 minute spell of their own, but just after the half an hour mark, Farncombe took the lead after Zach unfortunately fumbled a cross, allowing their striker to tap into an empty net.
With their backs up, Farncombe doubled their lead moments later and it was lucky that the visitors made it to half-time just the two goals behind.

After a stern team talk from Simon Martin, a tactical switch and some changes early in the second-half, Dial Square actually started to play the way they are capable of.
It was our captain who got us back into the game. Cleverly beating his man, he made no mistake in finishing past the keeper’. 2-1 and still over an half an hour to go.

As we continued to bombard the host's goal, we were level 15 minutes later. It was that man Watto again who got on the scoresheet to bring The Dial level.
After being felled in the box, Mark got up to take the penalty. His initial effort was saved, but he was quickest to the ball to toe-poke the rebound into the net. 2-2 and it was game on.

Farncombe dug in and started to come back into the match and for the last 20 minutes, it became and end-to-end affair and both teams had chances to win the game, so in all, a draw was certainly a fair result.

A game of two halves it most certainly was.
