Dial Square remained top of the table yesterday with a stunning 4-0 victory over Godalming Town ‘Development’.

In what was probably the most convincing display yet from any Dial Square team since forming back in 2020, The Dial showed that they’re starting to grow as a squad.
It was pleasing to see that right from the first whistle, there was hunger, desire and a will to be first to everything.

This set the tone for the whole afternoon and it turned the fixture into a rather one-sided match.
From the off, the tackling, shape, passing and movement was miles apart from anything seen in recent weeks and contributed to us being ahead within 5 minutes.
After a loose ball fell fortuitously to Nic Donaldson on the edge of the box, he found himself through on goal and made no mistake, rounding the keeper to finish into the empty net.

The half progressed with only one team in it. Credit to the visitors, they battled hard and managed to keep it to 1-0 at half-time, but The Dial were in cruise control. It is worth noting that Godalming were coming into this game just 2 points behind The Dial and were certainly a team to be wary of, which made the performance all the more impressive.

After the resumption, the next goal was vital. Despite the home sides dominance, they only led by one goal, but any nerves of a comeback were soon quashed when Ed Mckinlay grabbed his first of the day.
Godalming Town offered little in the way of chances and with 20 minutes remaining, substitute Jake Taylor chalked up his second of the season.

Moments later, Ted smashed home a superb free-kick giving the keeper’ no chance and to cap a top performance during the afternoon, which earned him the 'Man Of The Match' award. 4-0 and we were on course for our best result of the season so far.

There was even time for Matt Pegg to get the ball in the net after his late appearance as a sub from his recent injury lay-off, but it was sadly ruled out by the referee.

4-0 it finished and if the team can keep up those levels for the rest of the season, then a big message has been sent to all the teams of the division.
