It was a break from League action for The Dial yesterday, as they faced an away trip to Sheerwater U23’s, in the ‘Surrey County Cup’.
They emerged victorious and set a new club record of three clean sheets in a row, whilst putting in another great performance from start to finish.
With Simon Martin selecting a strong starting line up, it was clear how seriously he was taking the competition and had the Skipper, Mark Watkins, not been carrying an injury, he probably would’ve featured from the start too.

It was an evenly matched first half with both sides were playing some neat football and were keeping great shape. Chances were few and far between, but the intriguing battle did produce a goal shortly before half-time.
A corner was not dealt with and after a series of deflections, the ball landed kindly for Brad Pegg, who turned the ball into the net and gave the away side a slender lead at the break.

The second-half was slightly different. Dial Square started to look more threatening as the game went on and had it not been for the Sheerwater Number 1, The Dial could’ve been out of site.
He produced two great saves. One from Jake Taylor and one from Nic Donaldson, which would’ve put them out of sight.
It is fair to say the visitors looked firmly in control of proceedings, but Sheerwater made them work for the full 90 minutes.

It was another success for the defence too, with yet another clean sheet as Keelan Brient grabbed his second 'Man Of The Match' award in three games. They and the rest of the team showed great discipline as well.
The shape and movement of the back four and midfield is looking very impressive and with a strong bench assisting the level of performance needed at all times, it demonstrates many more positives for the fans to enjoy.
