After yet another solid performance in the league yesterday, Dial Square gained promotion for the second consecutive season, with a 2-0 win over Knaphill Athletic, at Alwyns Lane.

The promotion was confirmed when news filtered through that Farncombe had been beaten 4-0 away from home to University of Surrey.

The game started brightly for the home side and after spurning numerous chances from the off, the deadlock was broken after 7 minutes, when an inch perfect pass into the box from Perry Coles, found Matt Bunyan at the far post to slot home.
Bunners was back in the side after returning from a recent trip to Portugal and his presence was immediately recognised, winning everything in the air and looking a real threat every time The Dial launched an attack.

The half-time whistle came with no more additions to the scoreline, but the home side had Dan Sargent to thank for keeping it 1-0, with a crucial save midway through the first half.

The second half was much of the same. The Dial looked strong and Knaphill battled hard to try and get back into the game, but the home defence was standing strong. Joe Mcrobb putting in a particularly strong stint at left-back, almost turned goal provider, when his sublime through-ball found Bunners, but he put his shot just wide.

The game was assured with a little under 20 minutes remaining, when George Lawrence capped an impressive display in midfield, to convert his chance well and confirm the victory for Dial Square.

After the final whistle, the news came through that Farncombe had lost and now the team can fully focus on the league title, which will cap an indifferent season.
