After losing out on the title last week, when Laleham put the University of Surrey to the Sword, Dial Square had nothing but pride to play for when they travelled to The Timbers yesterday, to take on the reserves of Virginia Water FC.

Unfortunately for the travelling side, they had a number of key first-team players missing, but with players trying to keep their place for next season, there should’ve been enough at stake to try and prove a point.
There wasn’t and it was to prove an embarrassing afternoon for The Dial.

Conceding a penalty within the first minute was bad enough, but as the half progressed, there was nothing of any note to be positive about.
Dial Square found themselves 2-0 down right on the stroke of half-time but a goal from Aidan Phillips a minute later, kept the away side in the tie, albeit somewhat undeserved.

Just after the hour mark, Virginia Water restored their 2 goal advantage and the game was put beyond doubt in the last minute, when Dial Square conceded another penalty to succumb 4-1 to the home side.

It was a very poor end to the season, but now the rebuild starts and everyone at the club is looking forward to seeing a competitive side for the 23/24 campaign.
