Dial moved back to the top of the Surrey Premier County Football League table after a comfortable 4-2 win over AFC Cubo today (17 Jan) at Quintin Hogg Memorial Sports Ground.

A brace from Jordan Carter, and another from Danny Taylor, ensured Dial came away with maximum points in West London to leap-frog Wimbledon Casuals in the pecking order.

To mirror their recent performances, Dial managed to get their noses in front early doors when Carter received the ball out wide from Harry Rice, before attacking the space and deceiving Sam Harrison to fire the ball into the roof of the net after just 11 minutes.

A superb touch and cross on the half-volley from Louie Rogers almost paved the way for the Dial's second goal five minutes later, but Carter was unable to swivel on the spot, slicing the ball wide of the far post.

Carter then turned provider for Taylor to toe poke the ball home from close range after Harrison had saved his initial shot midway through the first half.

Shortly after, there was concern in the camp when influential Dial captain, Zac Hawker, clashed with Harrison and landed awkwardly holding his left knee. After initial prognosis, it could rule him out for the rest of the season.

Despite Hawker’s early departure, Dial continued to press the Cubo backline, with Harrison pushing Rice’s low shot around the post, before diving to save Oliver Price’s backward header to spare the defender’s blushes from a corner kick.

However, the Blues’ shot-stopper could do little to prevent Dial’s third goal. After saving Jimmy Norman’s low freekick, he could only watch Taylor square the ball for Carter, unmarked, to side-foot home his second five minutes before half-time.

Rice had a great opportunity to reestablish his scoring account four minutes after the break, but the striker's second touch ran through to Harrison after Hanwell Town loanee was clean through on goal.

A superb counter-attack from Tom Adag was pivotal to Dial’s fourth goal, after the midfielder broke clear of his own penalty box, before linking up with Carter, who threaded the ball through to Taylor to slide the ball past Harrison in the 58th-minute.

Unrepentant, Dial continued with a high press, with Rice’s low shot striking the outside of the post from an acute angle, and Harrison denying substitute Salvatore Federico from adding a fifth.

Not to be silenced, Tim De La Haye managed to head home a late consolation for the Blues after George Mead misjudged the flight of the ball from a corner.

Daniel Smith then added a surprise second in stoppage time to further reduce the arrears for the hosts. But it was little too late for the West Londoners who were largely second best throughout.

Speaking after the match, Brown said: “Baring a lapse of concentration in the last three to four minutes, I thought the boys were excellent. It was another assured performance. Their work-rate, quality and decision-making was some of the best I’ve seen this season.

“At 4-0, it provided the opportunity to make changes, which can disrupt the flow. However, all of the boys that came on did well and slotted straight in.

“There’s a healthy competition for places at the moment, which is forcing everyone to up their game,” added Brown.
